I think upon arrival, I was so upset over the small things, that I didn't take time to just be. This past week has ended up a good break from the norm. We have settled into an easy routine of D going off to work at the park's office while I am shopping, blogging. and organizing. (Which is never-ending when you live in an RV.)
Irving Eco-Centre
In the evenings we have been going over to the Irving Eco-Centre. The park is located only 2 miles from the park and lies along the Atlantic Ocean. The park has the longest sand dune in the province. It stretches out for 7 miles. There is a winding boardwalk that zigzags over a portion of the dune with steps that lead down to the beach periodically. If one walks along the beach of the dune, they will come to Bouchtouche Lighthouse!
Our walks have not all been totally uneventful for this southern girl. I have been constantly reminded that I am not in the South anymore. For the most part, folks around here speak French as their main language which I guess explains a few of the things I have seen.
For example: On one occasion, we saw a family of four on the beach where the father stood up and took off his swim trunks and shook them out and paraded around naked for a few minutes before re-dressing.

Hey naked dude, Smile! You're on camera! |
And on another occasion, we saw a man just strip naked for all to see and go swimming. Yup! Definitely not in the bible belt!
This weekend (providing the rain holds out) we plan on driving 90 minutes south along the coast and go exploring Prince Edward Island.

This post certainly seems lighter than the one before...but who wouldn't be lighter with naked men around?
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the potato museum in PEI, it's pretty cool! There are a couple of side museums to visit as well, and yummy food on site - potato chowder, potato skins are quite tasty. From your Maplewood Acres temporary neighbor :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for suggestions on places/food/etc to check out!
DeleteSeems like we're doing opposite routes - we'll be in PEI August 17th until 22nd - hope y'all enjoy your stay there, the people are wonderful. Note to Dennis, I know it's silly, but buy yourself a potato-shaped stress "ball" from the Potato Museum - endless hours of fun LOL.
DeletePS I know "Potato Museum" sounds tacky, but it's really worth it. Take care - happy travels :)
